**We use Organic Alcohol (from Culinary Solvent) for our tinctures & elixirs, which is what our Maca Rose Cacao Elixir original recipe is made with. We recently decided to explore delighting our taste buds with Organic Alcohol & Brandy in the recipe. We used E & J Brandy, Very Special Old Pale, extra smooth rare blend — aka some super fancy stuff!

*We are proud to purchase our Cacao nibs & powder and Maca Root powder (and all other ingredients) from organic farms that practice fair trade and sustainable farming. Please ask us for details if you’re curious.

What is Maca???

Maca plant is native to Peru, known scientifically as Lepidium meyenii, is sometimes referred to as Peruvian ginseng.

It mainly grows in the Andes of central Peru, in harsh conditions and at very high altitudes — above 13,000 feet (4,000 meters).

The main edible part of the plant is the root. It exists in several colors, ranging from white to black.

Maca root is generally dried and consumed in powder form, but it’s also available in capsules and as a liquid extract.

**Safety and Side Effects**: maca contains contains goitrogens, substances that may interfere with the normal function of the thyroid gland. These compounds are more likely to affect you if you already have impaired thyroid function.

Pregnant or breastfeeding people should consult with their doctors before consuming maca.

Honey is all around amazing. We can’t wait to start beekeeping ourselves one day!

Honey is known to be rich in antioxidants and can also be helpful for lowering blood sugar. It can be helpful against seasonal allergies as well! And, it’s delicious. :)

We get our delicious fresh honey from our local Rome Store. (A sweet and amazing little country store with delicious food, local goods and honey that has been around for over 100 years. You pass it on your drive from Bellingham to Mt. Baker.) They carry honey made from the folks in the area practicing sustainable farming.
